Huang Jiaguang, who was imprisoned for 17 years due to an unjust verdict, got married in Haikou, Hainan province on Oct. 24.
因不公正的判决而被监禁17年的黄家光，于10月24日在海南省海口市结婚了。In 1994, 22-year-old Huang was working in Hainan's Chengmai County. On July 7 of that year, he returned to his hometown in Qiongshan County because he heard that Huang Hengyong, a gangster in a neighboring village, had been killed in a gang fight.
1994年，22岁的黄家光在海南的澄迈县打工。当年的7月7日，因为听说邻村的一名混混黄恒勇在一场帮派打斗中被杀，他回到了位于琼山县的家乡。"My father saw me and said, 'The young people have all gone--why do you come back?'" Huang recalled.
"我父亲看见我说，"'年轻人都走了--你回来做什么？'"黄家光回忆说。
However, since he didn't think the incident had anything to do with him, he didn't give it much thought.
然而，由于他认为这不关自己的事，他也没有多想。But when people reported him to the police, accusing him of the murder, the police listed him as a suspect.
但是随后，当有人向警察举报指控他涉嫌谋杀时，警方便将他列为了嫌疑人。
In the following three years, Huang was arrested three times. In 1998, after he was arrested for the third time, Huang said he could no longer stand the torture and chose to confess to the crime.
在接下来的三年里，黄家光被捕了三次。1998年，在第三次被捕后，他说自己不能再忍受刑讯逼供，选择了认罪。"The police gave me several blank papers and asked me to sign my name. Later, they wrote a confession on the papers and asked me to put my fingerprints on them," Huang recalled. He was sent to prison soon after.
"警察给了我几张空白的纸，并要求我签上名字。后来，他们在纸上写了一份供词，要求我按手印，"黄家光回忆说。很快，他被送进了监狱。During his stay in prison, Huang's family never gave up on appealing his case.
在坐牢期间，黄家光的家人没有放弃申诉他的案件。In 2014, the case got a retrial and Huang was finally declared innocent. He received a compensation of over 1.6 million RMB. At that time, he was 42.
2014年，该案再审，终审宣告黄家光无罪。他获赔160多万人民币。当时，他已经42岁了。Huang tried to recover his lost youth. With the compensation, he bought several pieces of gold jewelry. Soon, he found a girlfriend and built a new house.
黄家光试着找回他失去的青春。他用补偿金买了几件金首饰。不久，他找到了一个女朋友，并盖了一座新房子。"I can forgive other people, but the ones who created the unjust case should be punished," Huang said. "Only when I see those people being held accountable will I truly be able to move on."
黄家光说："我可以原谅别人，但是办理冤案的人应该被追责。只有看到办理冤案的人员被处理，我才能真正地继续前行。"
